Connecting with social media . . . blogging

blog blog blog

Ted Conference again . . . what is the importance of blogging?  Evolution?  Record of who you are?  Records of others or their interests?
Listen to one of the founders of blogging.  She is funny, too.  How will we use this technology for our newspaper?

  • This video was a rough work on MediaCom for middle school counselors
  • Think of it as a bell and whistle powerpoint presentation (not a powpt fan).
  • I talked as this played.

Tell your community stories . . .

Tribal Radio  gets local  and who knew about the heavy metal adulation by the youth on the rez?

Plus, radio is more intimate than tv or movies.  It is like this storyteller is right here making eye contact and saying . . .  we lean in to listen.

By the way this little figurine is really old, museum quality.  I will try to remember the details, but I when I saw it I was struck by how ancient and powerful story is.

Stories that seem stupid but make you smile and empathize

Bad cakes

Anything can be a story if it shows a back story.  This makes you wonder about the laughing and the "oh no" moments when the icing artists were caught.  Remember these people are professionals . . . don't try this at home.  ;0)

How long is too long for a slide show?

Is this too long?

Image found on Ms. Snowder's whiteboard.

This character wants to know if 2:00 minutes for a slide show is the maximum or can you stay with this piece longer than that?

What makes this piece compelling?  Or not?

This is our aim

Photographer Will Yurman has wonderful slide shows

Please explore this site, particularly the work section.  He has done so much good work.  Soak it in and think about his sequential stills . . . how one photo flows into the next, examine the quality of the image, and listen to how important good audio is to transport you.
